Tanglaw 4 Every Juan

Tanglaw 4 Every Juan

Project Tanglaw is our electrification project that aims to light homes through solar that would help improve their quality of life and cope with the pandemic. Since 2017, we have lighted and become beacons of hope to 46 communities and 3,317 homes.

In 2019, we were able to light 69 homes with solar lanterns through Tanglaw Batch 1. Last 2020, to help families cope with the pandemic and help in the distance learning, we were able to light 170 homes with solar home systems through Tanglaw Batch 2. In 2021, we have lighted 273 with solar home systems in 3 more communities through Tanglaw Batch 3.

Tanglaw 4 Every Juan aims to light more homes in Rizal and beyond with the goal that every Filipino has access to clean and safe energy. It also aims to light homes of Indigenous Communities in remote areas. Most of these communities are dependent on kerosene lamps and car batteries for their lighting. This project will help their family savings, children’s education and enjoy benefits of having access to energy.

Since we started focusing our efforts in Rizal since 2020, we are now close to electrifying all the unelectrified sitios and barangays in Rizal specifically in Tanay, Antipolo, Morong and Rodriguez.

Solar Hope uses energy access as its “entry point” and its way to build relationship with the community and understand more their challenges and needs through immersion and adopting the community. Our strategy starts with series of community engagements and profiling, then once the number of households that needs energy access is identified based on our criteria, we conduct a turn-over program and solar training for the community. In parallel, we have community consultations with the locals. Then we do the turn-over of solar by batch which results to multiple community visits. In every visit, we bring a partner organization in the community which they try to address the other needs of the community as well. Once all the households are electrified with solar, we now transition to the local schools and provide energy access for their load needs and other solutions for their other community needs. Then monitoring of the impact of the initiatives is conducted through the utilization of the systems, facilities and improvement in performance of students and constant community consultation.
